  • Re: Questions RE: "How Avid Media Composer Uses a Computer"

It might be worth pointing out that one solution for accurate rendering could be to use the software openGL option within Avid settings for any final rendering, which should produce the best quality regardles of the installed GPU. Although not always convenient it is a viable finishing option for systems with only Geforce consumer cards and should theoretically

  • Re: freme rate conversion 50p to 24p

There is no need to 'convert' 50fps to 24fps in Avid for a DCP. You can make DCP in one of two ways from a 50fps source: 1) Although still outside the official spec for DCI DCPs, 25 and 50fps DCPs can be projected on almost all current systems, just a few that haven't had their firmware update will be unable to. I use DCP-O-Matic (which

  • Re: Help with 24fps - m2t files not linking or importing Media Composer with Symphony

Despite what JVC might say I can confirm the HDV 720p range @24fps is definitely, in reality 23.976. I have a HD100 camera and the BR-HD50 deck. Although I mainly use it with 25fps, all tests in 24fps and Avid have been through 23.976 project types. It produces 24p in exactly the manner of Panasonic DVCPro-HD Varicam. What JVC means is that it does

Try adding 'Everyone', if it's not already there and giving full access to that. Security shouldn't be an issue as it's one folder and in your public user.

  • Re: LUFS Meter

I can recommend and use PPMulatorXL, it's 100 euros for the EBU128/LUFS version and works very well with MC on the master out, and any point you wish. It is very accurate and agrees with my physical outboard meters. It has various QC reporting features too. The free Hofa one mentioned is good too but is not very pretty or clear in it's interface

  • Re: Different MC/Decklink SNAFU

I feel your predicament as I'm at loss to know what to suggest further too. Except I know 10.5.4 and 10.8.3 work for me fully, nothing in between did and earlier were very flaky, though I see at least one user here happily working on current MC versions with 10.4.2. I didn't get crashes but Avid would just not play the timeline. The BM and Avid

Mark, I know hardware is frustrating at times, especially BM devices, and you want to hurl it out of the window but believe me if a Shuttle usb 3.0 works without issue in MC on my laptop your card should be stellar. A process of common deduction has to suggest that the problem is either a) defective BM hardware (especially if it has never worked well

  • Re: UHD export

How are you editing/exporting UHD from Avid MC 7.6 (or 7.3), do you mean 8? HR resolutions in Avid require the DNxHR codec, which is not present in 7x. UHD/4K is very intensive on system resources, though it seems your system is quite good. There is 1/4 and 1/16 proxies for less intensive playback.

  • Re: Different MC/Decklink SNAFU

Mark, Does your Z400 have PCIe gen1 or gen 2 slots, this could be the issue, try another slot if you can? 10.3 DV drivers are quite old now, try 10.5.4 or 10.8.3, from the Avid download for the DNxIO and not 10.8.4 (Only has Cintel scanner updates anyway). MC 8.5.2 I think too has a few bugs, try 8.5.3, very stable here with an Intensity Shuttle usb

[quote user="Rinze Schuurman"] -turning on and off when switching to the desktop and back -the position of the window has to be within the avid mc window. -different resolution of the FSP monitor affects the other monitors -it can only be used on the primary monitor of the desktop, ie the monitor used for messages so you have to mouse to the
