  • Bullet List with AvidFX

Although Avid Title Tool and Avid Marquee are capable of handling most types of Text effects, it can be nice to find a quick way of using a Title template to do some more advanced effect. AvidFX has a very powerful Title tool under the bonnet. Here is a look at a quick way of creating a Bullet List....

  • Global Audio Adjustment

Not the only way to do it. But here is one way that I have found that makes sense to me. Also included is a little tip on resetting the Volume Slider to zero. Regards, Douglas The playback screen can be maximised by clicking on the "Full-Screen" button on the control strip.

  • Expanding Library of Media Composer Tutorials

I am a relative newcomer to Media Composer (early 2008) and as I began to feel my way around I got the idea of documenting my adventures by creating short video tutorials, Avid had already a large number of excellent, professionally produced tutorials online. I learned very much from watching them. However...

  • Add your own Transitions to the "Quick Transition" Menu

I'd like to thank Pixel Monkey for starting a very interesting thread in Avid's Tips & Tutorials area. His first post gave me the inspiration for this Tutorial. The url to his thread is: http://community.avid.com/forums/t/62367.aspx The "Quick Transition" Menu has a choice of: Disslove...

  • No Visible Waveform or Audio Level Plot

When I started using MC, setting the visible waveform was one of the first things I did when I began to work on my audio tracks. Some weeks later I was unable to see the waveforms. No matter how much I clicked on the hamburger and changed the settings, I just could not see the waveform anymore. The following...

  • Using Keyframes in Effects

To say the least, I was very confused by keyframes when I first began using BorisFX and later AvidFX. I could never seem to get consistent results. Hopefully this very basic look at keyframing will point you in the correct direction. Good luck! Douglas The playback screen can be maximised by using the...

  • A Split Screen Effect using "Crop" Control

This effect has been around since the beginning of time. Probably one of the earliest effects used in films. Simple though it is, there are a surprising number of budding editors who have never realised it can be done very easily in MC. Not so many days ago there was a question on the Forums about how...

  • BCC Pan & Zoom

I found that this filter was more difficult to get the hang of than the Avid Pan & Zoom filter. However, once I started to understand it I could see that it gave better control and probably better sharpness and a smoother pan than the Avid filter. Luckily both of them reside in the Effects Palette...

  • Avid Pan & Zoom

This Tutorial is longer than I usually produce. This is due to the fact that I want to show a few of the pitfalls that I met when trying to learn this technique. The actual Pan & Zoom part is covered by a very informative Avid Xpress Pro product quick tour video. It can be found at: http://community...

  • Apply an Effect to Many Clips with a Double Mouse-click.

This one could save you some time when applying the same effect to multiple clips on your timeline. Regards, Douglas The playback screen can be maximised by using the "Full-screen" button in the control bar.
