Hi all,
I'm having to learn QuickTime 7 for a few annoying reasons.
I notice that videos in QuickTime look washed out. The videos are playing in legal range, instead of full range?
Please see the attached screenshot. Quicktime's black level on the right is higher than what it's supposed to look like (see VLC player on the left).
Is there a way of setting QuickTime 7 to always play a video in full range?
Thanks in advance.

The short answer is no. Maybe if you export it in RGB mode? LOL.
The root of the issue is how QT7 platform encode and decodes gamma metadata. While you can export the correct gamma metadata, the playback software (QT7, FCP, VLC, Firefox, etc.) may not respect that setting. You can fix it on a case by case basis. For example, going from a specifc software encoder to a specific playback software you can adjust the metadata so it decoded properly. However, the same metadata may not work if you move to a different playback software.

I'm well aware Pat!
I had no idea this was a problem until now.
