Avid actually has an improved proxy workflow. But because Avid executives are bunch of geniuses, they only allow it on Media Composer Enterprise edition. Because you know, enterprise users are the only one that utilize proxy. No one else. And if others do need a better proxy support, why would Avid would want to show their tools to be more useful? It is not a bug but a limitation (by design?). Some (might be all) Source setting based FX do not activate while in group clip mode.
